Here at Mojodojo Media we have decided to realign ourselves with our values and drives that got us into the music in the first place. This heavily saturated market or the music industry sucked me in and before I knew it Iwas concentrating more about the marketing and exposure than the actual music. Some of you may say that as a label owner this is what you do. To some extent you are right. The thing is it did not feel right to me.
When you stop enjoying what you are doing and the whole thing becomes a chore then it is time to re-evaluate exactly what is going on. Time to ask some questions. For years I have pushed hard to develop artists and release their amazing energy. The issue I have is that I thought by default I needed to do it within the confines of the existing order and system. A system that does not care about the depth of what is happening but the volume and desire to be the latest greatest.
I have chosen to set the Label apart from the mainstream as nothing is underground any more. Everything seems to have a value and marketing capital placed on it and if it does not then all the better as it will be the next thing to discover. I was sick of chasing the dream and waiting to be discovered that in the process I lost touch of what I really needed and loved doing, producing music and art to connect with people. In stead of chasing the desire and trying to be heard by all the right people I have decided to sit back do what I do and connect with like minded individuals. Sure I would like to share it with those that will listen but I will not have that as my focus of attention.
We can still appear in stores but when we are ready to release something not because we have to. I would like to thank all those involved in getting Mojodojo this far and look forward to the second shift for that label. We have grown up a little and love and respect who were are and understand our place in the world.
